Davy Jones - Captain of the Flying Dutchman...

Davy Jones is captain of the Flying Dutchman, a ghost ship from nautical lore. Jones  forever roams the seven seas, in search of souls to serve upon his vessel for a century. His original purpose was to carry souls from the world of the living, to Fiddler's Green, or better known as the land of the dead. He was charged with this duty, by his one true love, a heathen sea goddess named Calypso. For every ten years at sea, he got to spend one day on land, with his love. After the first ten year trial, Jones prepared to be reunited with her. But instead was heartbroken, and enraged when she did not show. Unable to deal with the sadness of Calypso's betrayal, Jones turned the pirate brethren against her, telling them that if she were removed from the world, that they would be able to claim the seas for themselves. So they assembled the First Brethren Court, and Jones taught them how to imprison Calypso to her human bonds. The court agreed to imprison her forever. Jones then cut out his heart, placed it in a pirates chest, which he then placed that chest into a bigger chest, containing numerous love letters from Calypso, and all other items having to do with her, except his musical locket. He then buried it on Plague Island. This chest became known as The Dead Man's Chest. After burying the chest, Jones abandoned his duty, and ruled as a tyrant, with a damned crew, bond by oath to serve upon the Dutchman for 100 years each, believing that they could forestall their final judgement. Because Jones and his crew broke the oath to Calypso, they slowly became parts of the sea, essentially barnacles on the ships hull. Jones and his eerie ship, now sail the seas, destroying every ship they come upon, so that he can recruit crew members. With his supernatural power, he became ruler of the oceans, and he has command of the Kraken, a feared mythological creature.
